What better way to wrap up Valentine’s Day than to snuggle up with your sweetheart and watch a movie? There are so many options to choose from: romcoms, dramas, even animated films. The only problem is, which one to watch? You could spend hours deciding over a film, and by the time you finally pick one you’ll be too tired to watch it!

 

We’ve compiled a list of our all-time favorite romantic movies for you to watch this Valentine’s Day! This is no ordinary list, however. You might expect typical suggestions, like The Notebook or When Harry Met Sally. While both those films are classics, there are still so many other great options out there for your viewing pleasure!

 

We decided to get a little creative this Valentine’s Day, and choose 10 films from the last 10 years. You’ll have a broader selection, and maybe even take a stroll down memory lane with a film you forgot you loved!

1. The Big Sick (2017)

The Big Sick touched audiences worldwide when it released in June 2017. Based on true life events of Kumal Nanjiani and his wife, Emily Gordon, the film covers issues of race, ethics, and relationships. This is a great film to watch all cuddled up on the couch, and it will make you laugh, cry, and smile—a great combo for any romcom!

 

2. Me Before You (2016)

Me Before You is sure to bring you to tears. Based on Jojo Moyes’s best-selling novel, the film tells the story of Louisa Clark and Will Traynor. Louisa is a happy-go-lucky person, but her bubbly personality is tested when she becomes caregiver to Will, a handsome young banker left paralyzed from a terrible accident two years prior. Love blossoms and complications arise, but the movie evokes empathy and a new appreciation for life in all those who watch it.

 

3. The Longest Ride (2015)

Are you or your Valentine a big Nicholas Sparks fan? The Longest Ride is the perfect movie for you both! Luke and Sophia are in love, but their futures hold opportunities that will cause them to diverge. Worried about what’s to come, the couple seeks solace in an elderly man who experienced similar trials and tribulations with his wife. This film is packed with action, drama, and romance, all genres that you and your Valentine will love!

 

4. That Awkward Moment (2014)

 

Any Zac Efron lovers out there? We thought so! That Awkward Moment covers the lives of three best friends. Mikey (Jordan) ends his marriage, and playboys Jason and Daniel (Efron and Teller) are there to welcome him back to the single life. After they make a pact to avoid commitment, they coincidentally find themselves in serious relationships. What happens next? You’ll have to watch to find out!

 

5. Austenland (2013)

 

Feel like 2013 was forever ago? So do we! Austenland will take you even further back in time, but in a modern way. That probably doesn’t make sense does it? Allow us to explain. Jane Hayes (Keri Russell) is obsessed with anything and everything Jane Austen. She packs up and heads to Austenland, a resort where guests can immerse themselves in their own Jane Austen love story. Quirky and romantic, Austenland is full of comical twists and turns, and has a fantastic cast that keeps you laughing until the end credits!

 

6. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

 

If you’re looking for a film that has a mixture of comedy and drama, Silver Linings Playbook is your pick! Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are a dynamic duo in this movie, with a rich supporting cast featuring Robert De Niro and Jackie Weaver. This is a great film to watch while you snuggle up with your Valentine—it’ll make you laugh, cry, and appreciate the love you share.

 

7. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

 

This film is an all-time favorite and features an amazing cast (i.e. Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, and Julianne Moore)! Cal Weaver (Carrell) learns that his wife (Moore) has been unfaithful and wants a divorce. Flung into the world of dating at an older age, Cal is off to a rough start. However, with the help of playboy Jacob Palmer (Gosling), Cal will learn how to be a hit with the ladies. Full of twists, turns, and hilarious moments, Crazy Stupid Love is a great movie to celebrate love on Valentine’s Day!

 

8. Leap Year (2010)

Want your flick pick to transport you overseas to the romantic lands of Ireland? Leap Year with Amy Adams and Matthew Goode will do just that! Anna (Adams) decides to take matters into her own hands and propose to her boyfriend on Leap Year, because in Ireland it is a fun tradition for the woman to propose. She heads out to Ireland, where her boyfriend is on business, but gets stuck in her journey to pop the question. Lucky for her, hunky Declan (Goode) is there to help her along the way, but as the two get to know one another, love blossoms. Leap Year is heartwarming, cute, and fun to watch with your sweetie on Valentine’s Day!

 

9. The Proposal (2009)

This 2009 hit starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds is a no-brainer when it comes to Valentine’s romcoms! Full of hilarious moments and even a bit of drama, The Proposal is a great, lighthearted film to watch. Plus who doesn’t want to see Ryan Reynold’s shirtless?!

 

10. Made of Honor (2008)

 

Last but certainly not least is Made of Honor starring Patrick Dempsey. The plot is typical: a guy and a girl are best friends, and it isn’t until the girl finds someone else that the guy realizes he loves her. Nevertheless, it is still fun to watch and a great choice for a cozy night in after a delicious Valentine’s Day meal. Watch Tom (Dempsey) win his best friend Hannah’s (Monaghan) heart in this hilarious and adorable rom com!
