HOW THEY MET
Our love story began in the Fall of 2015. Call it destiny, call it fate, call it whatever you want that brought us two HopCat hosts together. Tony was finishing his engineering degree at Michigan State, and I was a recent implant by way of College Station, Texas. Newly single and heartbroken I wasn’t looking for love, and thought being single was just the cards for me right then.
I had just moved to East Lansing, where Tony was going to school. I had found my way to working at a restaurant (Hopcat) as a hostess. Tony was famous because he was the only male host. When I first started he was just finishing his internship in Columbus, OH. So that is how we came to meet because worked as a host at Hopcat.
Once I met tony something just lit up for me and I knew he was someone I wanted to get to know. Some flirtatious banter was exchanged back and forth for a few days as Tony tried to find someone to take his shift at work. This is where it all started. If it wasn’t for my pushy-straightforward demands to spend time with Tony, there probably would be no love story to tell, but here we are. This was all brought on due to our friend requests on social media for all the creeping. He was caring, thoughtful, and had the best smile. I had never met anyone like him, and I knew I never wanted to meet anyone else but him.
Our first date was spent playing darts and drinking Long Island iced teas. Next thing you know we were talking about life and our future. We were inseparable and we both knew it was the beginning and end of everything.
Fast forward to five years later, a quick move to Columbus, Ohio, and a proposal in Florence, Italy, we are ready to start our forever. We are both so lucky to be spending the rest of our lives with one another.
HOW DID YOU KNOW THEY WERE THE ONE?
He was the most sweetest and thoughtful human I had ever met. My favorite courtship memory was our first date. We spent the night drinking long islands and playing darts. He then walked me home (which was super out of the way for him). That next morning he picked me up and took me out to breakfast and then walked to the park and just sat together looking out at the lake talking and snuggling.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
I was On the most amazing trip ever in Italy. My nanny family asked my to accompany them, they were going for a wedding but extended the trip so they could have a vacation! I had never been Overseas and as a history major/future history teacher Florence stole my heart. I knew tony had the ring, but I thought he would propose in fall at a pumpkin patch. I also asked if he wanted to come and I would extend my stay another week but he declined. One day he said he was going to an Osu football game with his uncle so we WOULDN’T be able to talk. He would be busy and I would be sleeping, he needed a good excuse since he would secretly be flying for a long time. The next day was Saturday and on Saturday my nanny family was attending the wedding and I was with my girls and super busy all day. Exhausted my nanny’s parents came home around 2:45am. Sunday was our last full day in Florence and my nanny mom asked to meet me up on the rooftop at 8:15am because they had a coffee bar there on Sunday. I said of course and went to bed.
The next morning I woke up and my nanny mom looks so beautiful always So I decided to put makeup on and dress in a cute sweater and scarf, I wanted to look cute too! I was running a little behind and hurried into the elevator to get to the rooftop. I made it to the top rushed out and was almost in a panic, to my right where the bar was there was no coffee! I thought I was at the wrong spot! I quickly turn to my left and I see Tony, standing there with a bouquet of lilies, smiling, with the sun shining over downtown Florence in the background. I immediately burst into tears and run over to hug him and he gets down on one knee to ask me to marry him. I remember not being able to take my eyes off of the ring. He toasted with champagne and stood together overlooking Florence and soaking in our engagement. The Thursday before his coworkers convinced him how stupid he would be if he DIDN’T fly to Florence and propose! Right there on that beautiful rooftop, in the most beautiful hotel, overlooking one of the greatest cities in the world, Tony flew into Florence for merely 2 days just to ask me to be his wife. October 6th 2019 Was one of the best days of my life. That afternoon we spent the day walking around Florence, getting espresso and gelato, and came back to my hotel to celebrate with everyone with champagne and drinks. I had so many great memories in Florence, but nothing will ever compare to that!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A SYLVIE RING?
When I was looking for rings I knew I wanted my fiance to buy from Leo Alfred as our family friends highly recommended them. I knew the style I wanted and I was scrolling through their online gallery and came across one of the Sylvie rings. I knew immediately that was the ring for me. The next week I went into the store to specifically try that ring on. When I saw it on my finger it just helped to confirm that was going to be my forever ring!

I love how simple yet beautiful it is. I love the way people admire it and tell Tony what an amazing job he did. The way the diamonds sparkle, and the way it fits perfectly on my finger like it was always meant to be there.
AS THE GROOM, WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR SYLVIE BRIDE?
One of my favorite things about Carly is how adventurous she is. I love her spontaneity and how excited she gets to try new things.
