HOW DID YOU KNOW THEY WERE THE ONE?
We became friends first, then best friends. The ones that call each other when anything good or bad happen. My first good morning and last goodnight. Both of us had been hurt in the past. Me, a single mom and a family law paralegal who swore she would never get married again. Him, a self-proclaimed bachelor who never saw marriage in his future. We realized that we were more than friends and probably always had been. I knew I loved him though when he played me drums one night. Not he rock band drums but a bongo drum. Letting his old hippy flag fly. Not sure why but this was it for me. Silly and weird. But… when he met my daughter and seeing how he lifted her up, cared for her and always put us first. He’s the best man I have ever known and we are blessed every day to have found each other. Love made us a family.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
We had just gotten word that our county was heading to a mandatory shelter in place order due to the pandemic rapidly growing. We were home, following the “Stay at home” advisories. My daughter said she “found something” and showed me an empty box. Confused, he then came from behind with a ring and got on one knee. We weren’t sure what the future held but as long as we were all together, that’s all that mattered. We laughed and celebrated with an elbow bump (pictured above).
