Say hello to our Sylvie Bride, Sarah M.!
The Story
How she became a Sylvie Bride: Trevor and I met one random weekend in Raleigh, NC through mutual friends. He was living in upstate NY and I was living in Wilmington. I wasn’t going to go out that night, and he claims that he almost didn’t come to NC. Long story short, I was talked into it, and we hit it off. I ended up meeting up with him again the following night, and again the next day. After an awesome weekend, I thought I would never hear from him again. I was wrong! He texted me on his way back to New York that Monday and we literally never stopped talking. I said I would never do long distance, but something was just right, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give it a chance. After 7 months of long distance, he picked up his life and moved to Wilmington. Fast forward to now, 2 years in, we are engaged and happily living in North Carolina.
How did they meet?
We met through mutual friends. I knew who he was 2 years before we were introduced.
How did she know he was the one?
You know the saying, when you know, you know? I always laughed when people said that, but now that I have felt that way, I know it’s a real thing. I knew early on that this was my person, but what really solidified it for me was when he picked up his entire life and moved to North Carolina to be with me.
How did he propose?
We went on a carnival cruise, just the 2 of us. The day we boarded the ship, we walked around to see where everything was and I mentioned it would be nice to get a massage at the spa at some point. Later that evening, Trevor told me about a special that the ship was running where if you purchased more than one service on the ship, they would bundle and give you a discount. (This was a lie). He said he booked us massages for the next day and pictures because it was formal night. The next night we met with the photographer for photos, who was in on it, and he tells us we will take some outside since the sun was setting and then we would finish up inside. We took several photos, while the photographer posed us. At some point he told me to turn around and look out at the ocean, but to be careful not to move due to the shutter setting on the camera. When he tells me to turn around, Trevor was down on a knee and I said yes to marrying the love of my life. We both blacked out a little bit and I can’t really remember what he said, but needless to say it was the best vacation I’ve ever been on.
The Ring
I worked at Diamonds Direct Crabtree part-time through college and occasionally after I graduated, having plenty of time to do my research. We went and looked prior to getting engaged and I wanted something simple and dainty, but nothing too plain. I saw the setting I now have, and knew that was the one I really wanted. It’s dainty with little diamonds 3/4 of the way down the setting, with a dainty diamond halo around my center diamond.

What do you love most about your ring?
I love that it sparkles no matter what type of lighting i’m in.
What do you say yes to?
As a Sylvie bride, I say yes to living a life full of happiness and having exciting adventures! I rarely turn down an opportunity to travel, and Trevor and I plan on doing plenty of that together for the rest of our lives. I also have a problem and say yes to cheese and wine way too often.
What do you love most about your Sylvie bride?
I love that Sarah constantly makes me smile and laugh. We are always laughing. She’s really funny even when she’s not trying to be. I love that she can make friends with anybody. I love that she makes me a better person, as cliche as that sounds. I love that we share two fur babies.
