Sylvie Bride Spotlight: Alicia D.
Meet our beautiful Sylvie Bride Alicia!
How They Met
Brian & I met through mutual friends nearly 8 years ago but did not officially start dating until 2012.
We got engaged on September 7, 2016 surrounded by family and our now 4-yr. old son, Cameron, and we got married in September at The Log Cabin in Holyoke, Massachusetts!
When She Knew He Was “The One”
Apart from his big heart and infectious smile, I knew that Brian and I would be together forever once I introduced him to my family. Family is everything to me, and it’s important for my significant other to be equally involved with his family.
Whether Brian was taking shots on St. Patrick’s Day with my 92 yr. old grandmother (haha!) or drawing and playing “tea party” with my nieces, he always made an effort to bond with my family. Moments like these made me realize we’d be together forever. Brian is someone with whom I’ll always be making memories.
We were on our traditional vacation in Cape Cod enjoying a perfect day out on the beach with our family. I was walking along the bayside on the lookout for sea glass when Brian called me over to the ocean side—he’d found something washed up on the beach. Of course, being my stubborn Italian self lol, I told him that I was on the hunt for sea glass and was determined to find some. He called me over again, so I gave up on my search and walked over to him. He pointed at the ground and said “look, a bottle washed up and there is a note in it”. I said “no way – open it!”. He picked up the bottle, removed the cork and took out the letter and handed it to me. I began reading the letter he had written to me and tears started to run down my face. I look over at Brian to find him down on one knee asking me to marry him. I was shocked and overwhelmed with happiness.
Everything about the proposal was perfect: the location, our son being there with us, the ring… Cape Cod has always been an important place for us. It just so happens that we both grew up spending our family vacations on the Cape, getting engaged there has made it even more sentimental for us. It was truly be the trip of a lifetime, and one that I will never forget!
We purchased my Sylvie Collection engagement ring from Baribault Jewelers in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Brian’s father had also purchased his mother’s engagement ring from Baribault and he felt it would be special to get mine from there as well.
The best part of my engagement was that every detail was a surprise, even when it came down to the ring – my fiancé picked it out all on his own! I didn’t suggest or hint at any styles that I liked as I knew whatever he picked would be. He chose this style as he loved the unique feature of spiraled diamonds on either side of the center diamond.
I love how unique my ring is – I have never seen an engagement ring quite like it. I get so many compliments not only on the way it sparkles, but also how different it is in comparison to your typical engagement ring. The ring style number is S1136 similar to the ring below but with a princess cut center.
I say “yes” to building a loving and happy life together – always ensuring that family is at the forefront, supporting one another’s goals and successes, and remembering to take time out to go on adventures and build everlasting memories with one another.
For the Groom
“I’ve never met a girl like Alicia before. She is beautiful, smart and strong-willed. When we first started dating she instantly made me want to be a better person. I remember looking at her one day early on in our relationship and thinking to myself, ‘wow, I really love this girl’. It was effortless to fall in love with her – she made me feel like I’ve never felt before. Finding the right ring, one that she deserved, was the hard part, but knowing that I wanted us to spend the rest of our lives together was one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make.”
Congratulations Alicia and Brian, we wish you love and happiness!
