Claude Moore Jeweler began its operations in downtown Mobile, Alabama in November 1922; the founder, the late Claude H. Moore, had studied diamond setting and engraving prior to and following World War 1. His work was acknowledged as the very finest. This modest shop, located on 8 St. Joseph Street, was renovated and fixtured in the spring of 1939, reopening for business with expanded inventory and added customer service. Following the founders death on April 2, 1945 the business was continued by his widow, Mercedes. The firm was accepted to membership in the American Gem Society on December 7, 1959 after meeting all required standards. On November 1, 1960, the business was incorporated with Claude H. Moore, Jr. as its President and Mercedes Moore as Vice-president, until her death on August 31, 1971. Over ensuing years, four moves into larger newly renovated locations allowed the firm to expand its operations to better serve its customers in Mobile's expanding economy. The present location, 3700 Dauphin Street - houses one of the most respected jewelry firms in the South. November 22, 2012 culminated ninety years of continous successful operations.
