About Butterfield Jewelers
Relocating to Albuquerque in 1945, Butterfield Jewelers quickly became a prominent engagement ring destination across from the University of New Mexico, serving the community with unparalleled dedication. The legacy of excellence continued with Ernest Bernard Butterfield Jr. (Bernie), an Albuquerque High School graduate, who joined the family business, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in watchmaking, cultivated through his studies at Precision Instrument Laboratory and Bradley University.
Under Bernie’s leadership, following his father’s passing in 1954, Butterfield Jewelers reached new heights of recognition and esteem. Bernie’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality was further solidified when the store became associated with the American Gem Society in 1966. The year 1975 marked a significant milestone with the relocation of the store and the creation of Butterfield Plaza, commemorating 65 years of exceptional service and craftsmanship. This period signified not only the store’s physical growth but also its expanding reputation as a leader in the jewelry industry.
Today, Butterfield Jewelers is a testament to the power of family-driven passion and commitment, with Bernie’s daughter Theresa now running the store. Guided by her unwavering vision, the store is on its path to celebrate a century of excellence. As New Mexico’s premier seller of loose diamonds, Butterfield Jewelers places paramount importance on delivering top-tier quality and personalized service. This dedication to excellence cements its status as Albuquerque’s best jewelry store, continuing to serve generations of customers with distinction and care. The Butterfield legacy, rooted in its rich history and forward-looking vision, continues to shine as brightly as the exquisite pieces it offers.
